Personal Statement
“I love being an OBGYN because we get to stay with our patients throughout all the phases of their lives, and I get to truly know my patients and their families. This allows me to truly know their beliefs, medical history, family history, and why they want or don’t want certain treatments. Together we can then put together a health care plan that is individualized for that patient and her needs. My goal is to treat every woman I see as a member of my family. It is amazing to get to see patients as teenagers, through starting families, into menopause and with all their gyn and surgical needs in between. Being an OBGYN is definitely a rewarding profession and I am honored when a woman chooses me to help care for her medical needs.”
Dr. McCoy was a recipient of Mobile Bays’ 40 under 40 and a Nappie award winner for best HooHa doctor. When not working, she spends her time volunteering in the community through Junior League of Mobile, South Alabama Alumni Association Board and St Paul’s Episcopal School. Dr. McCoy also enjoys fishing, boating and being outdoors with her husband, Clay, and kids, Jackson and Riley Cate.
"Amy McCoy is an amazing doctor. Her work ethic, knowledge, skills, as well as her unfailing compassion for her career are admirable. Being her patient changed my life. She’s helped me tremendously in finding treatment for my buildup of GYN issues. No matter how small or big of a problem, it never goes unnoticed. If you are undecided on a gynecologist, look no further. She’s a unicorn, for sure, and one of the absolute best.”

"When I went into preterm labor with triplets at just 24 weeks, I was petrified. Dr. McCoy met me at the emergency room within 10 minutes of finding out I was there and immediately put me at ease with her bedside manner and wonderful sense of humor. Over the next month, as I was on bed rest, she remained available and supportive. When I delivered the babies at 27 weeks (and on very short notice), Dr. McCoy made sure she was in the delivery room even though she was scheduled to leave on a family trip in just a few hours. My 27-week, 2-lb. babies are now almost 2 years old and thriving. Sam, Isaac, Scarlett, and my entire family are forever grateful to Dr. McCoy.”
